bedrock old vine zinfandel
Bedrock Wine Co. was started in by Morgan Twain-Peterson. Working out of a small converted chicken coop in a friend’s backyard, Morgan focused on making personality-filled wines wrought from a small array of thoughtfully farmed vineyards. Over time the chicken coop and its outdoor fermenters and tiny basket press gave way to production at another friend’s winery and eventually to the “elegant” tin-sided warehouse that is now called home. In addition, after six years of working alone the winery welcomed Chris Cottrell as a partner-in-crime along with a small, dedicated staff of highly decent human beings.
Old-school meets new in this Zinfandel, with just enough polish and plumpness to match the briary rusticity. Offers expressive black cherry, smoky anise and white pepper flavors. Drink now through 2024. 4,000 cases made.
The Zinfandel Old Vine is gorgeous. Fresh, floral and beautifully perfumed, it is light on its feet yet delivers tons of flavor intensity. Super-ripe red cherry, red plum, cedar, tobacco and floral notes are all pushed forward. Silky tannins add to the wine's considerable appeal. The was aged 60% in foudres of various sizes and 40% in smaller French oak barrels. (AG)
Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the Zinfandel Old Vine is scented of black and blue fruit preserves, prunes, nuts, earth and spice cake with chocolate box notions. The palate is full-bodied with loads of freshness and soft and juicy in the mouth, finishing spicy.
